Green Policy

We are extremely passionate about the environment and how we can make changes in any way possible to do better.

From January 2014, government initiative Zero Waste Scotland has set an ambitious target of 70% recycling and just 5% of waste going to landfill by 2025.

This will be achieved by requiring all businesses, large and small, to separate plastic, glass, metal, paper and card for recycling.

At Grampian Campervan Hire, we are taking proactive steps towards helping to meet this target and ensuring our business has minimal impact on our environment.

We have implemented a number of measures in our campervans to reduce the impact on our environment;

• Our vans come fully equipped, so there is no need for customers to purchase one-time use items for their trip
• All accessories provided in the vans are reusable, from BBQs to washing bags
• Our plates, cups and cutlery are made from bamboo and fully reusable
• All cleaning products provided in the vans and used by us to maintain the vans are eco friendly and biodegradable. They are bought locally from the Ethical Gift Shop & Refillery in Huntly, so we are supporting other local small businesses too.
• We actively encourage our customers to recycle their waste items
• Each campervan is supplied with compostable bin bags. And for items requiring bags, we provide handmade material bags which we make ourselves.
• Family games and educational information is provided in our vans to teach children how to respect our countryside, nature, wildlife and the environment

Around our site we have also implemented environmentally friendly measures, including;

• Creation of compost bins using reusable materials to reduce our landfill waste
• Installation of waste disposal facilities for campervans and caravans, which both our customers and persons visiting our site are able to use to dispose of grey and black waste
• We collect soda cans separately and these will be donated to local recycling charity.
• Bird boxes installed around our site to nurture our local wildlife

We will continue to implement the necessary measures to ensure we actively play our part in sustainability and promoting the circular economy.
